It’s been a really busy few months at willowlamp, working on large-scale decorative lighting projects and new designs, and we can’t wait to share more of the details of our latest projects and designs with you in the upcoming months.
Willowlamp wins at prestigious darc awards / decorative
We are proud to announce that we took second place in the The Best Use of Decorative Lighting in a Hotel Project at the gala event for international darc awards / decorative held in London this month. The award was for our custom designed installation at the Hotel Crown Towers in Perth Australia.
In its inaugural year, the darc awards / decorative was hosted by international lighting magazine’s mondo*arc and darc to celebrate decorative lighting design projects and products. Winners were chosen by the international design community who were invited to vote for their favourite projects and products through a specially-designed website. The awards received more than 200 entries from 30 countries.
Things to consider when choosing your chandelier
Nothing transforms a space as quickly or effectively as a bespoke chandelier or statement piece. During the day, a sculpturally designed piece takes on a very different feel from the drama of the night-time, yet it is important that the piece that you choose makes an impact on the space whether the lights are on or not.
There are various considerations to bear in mind when choosing the perfect chandelier for your home, workspace or hospitality suite, and we have summed up a few of these below:
At willowlamp, we can design chandeliers to fit any space as our bespoke designs are commissioned to the dimensions that you require for your commercial space or private residence. In general, the larger the room, the bigger the chandelier should be, although you could also use a cluster of smaller pieces to make a statement.
Whether it is a custom piece or one from our collection, it is important to consider the space carefully to ensure that you make an impact. A space which would otherwise be considered “empty”, like a hallway or stairwell, works well as the chandelier becomes the star attraction. A few of our pieces are perfect for hanging above a dining room table, to add that extra je ne sais quoi to your entertaining.
Colour and style
A chandelier can easily tie a theme together. The best way to inspire your choice of chandelier is to look at features and lines in the space that you are wanting to highlight and find something that will complement them. Each willowlamp is available in different finishes – including silver, copper, brass, smoke, rust, white, red and black – and we can tailor the height and length of the pendants and chandeliers to perfectly suit your space. We are happy to guide you through the process if you need some help in deciding, just chat to our sales team.

Feature of the month
This highly eclectic, somewhat ‘gothic’ design is inspired by a glistening, dripping stalactite and constructed using an interconnected latticework of chain. The inverted conical form gives the art piece a weightless, floating quality. It is illuminated by a spiralling arrangement of pyrex glass balls containing G9 halogen lamps and is available in two sizes, a 1000mm (w) by 2430mm (h) and 700mm (w) by 1900mm (h).
