Celebrate the major new 2018 collection at our exclusive launch

Though we are in the depths of a bleak and grey winter, our workshop has been frenetic as we began work on an exciting and expansive new collection of ready-made pieces.

On Thursday, 14 September 2017 we would love for you to join us as we unveil, and officially launch, the willowlamp 2018 collection as a major exhibition at the Youngblood Africa gallery in Cape Town. This exclusive evening will provide you with the opportunity to enjoy a private viewing of our new designs and join us for a glass of wine and canapés to celebrate. Our Creative Director, Adam Hoets will give guests an insight into the inspiration and process behind the new collection. Please join us from 18h00 onwards to raise a glass and celebrate. The willowlamp exhibition will then run until the end of September 2017.

The 2018 collection is marked by a number of significant new pieces, many of which are design firsts for willowlamp in that they incorporate motion and a departure from previous forms. There are softly-curved Mandala chandeliers that have been tooled to move like a sea anemones with the tide and a family of small pendants that share Moroccan vases as their point of inspiration! And then, a master work, resembling a massive chain link…

If you would like to join us for our exclusive launch evening and view these astounding new pieces before their general release, please RSVP and we will add you to the guest list.

Choosing a bespoke willowlamp chandelier for your home

Our diverse range means we are able to offer lighting solutions for any room in your home. If you’re considering ordering a bespoke lighting design or hanging one of our ready-made pieces, here are some tips you may want to consider when deciding on where to place your chandelier.

If you’re thinking about hanging your fixture over a dining room table, make sure that the diameter of the fixture is about 1/2 to 2/3 of the width of the table. You should also leave about 75 to 85 centimetres of space between the surface of the table and the bottom of the fixture. Alternatively, if you would like to hang your chandelier over an open space, find the right chandelier diameter by taking the sum of the room’s length and width and converting it into centimetres. To find the correct hanging height, you should then allow two metres between the floor and the bottom of the fixture.

If you’re considering hanging your chandelier in the foyer of your home then you will need to take the height of the ceiling into account. For example, if you have a two-storey foyer, the bottom of your chandelier should not be lower than the second floor and if your foyer has a large window, you should ensure that the chandelier is hung in line with the centre of the window frame.
