We’re thrilled to have recently completed this custom order for one of willowlamp’s Interior Design clients based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. We understand that it is bound for a luxury hospitality destination in Africa. It is truly exciting collaborating with our trade customers in this way and contributing to realising the vision for their projects.
Here, the brief was to create a striking, upsized version of our standard Windchime chandelier, a circular, tiered arrangement of “windchimes”. Our original version of this piece was produced in silver, and instead, we are loving the warm rose tones of the copper rendition, which came at our client’s request.
At this scale, the piece transforms from a beautiful residential solution to a grand hospitality statement piece, yet still manages to convey a poetic interpretation of traditional bamboo windchimes.
Our First-ever Retrospective & Sample Sale
Thank you to all those who attended the opening night of our 15-year retrospective exhibition and first-ever sample sale. It was a wonderful night, spent with long-term clients, new customers, members of the media, family and friends. We toasted to a decade-and-a-half of willowlamp designs with a glass of Krone accompanied by the jazzy notes of the Coxson Duo.
Our industrial factory space in Salt River, Cape Town was charmingly lit up by the largest array of willowlamps in one place at one time, ever. These chandeliers were all gently used samples that had previously made an appearance at various trade shows over the years such as Euroluce in Milan, Downtown Dubai and 100% Design South Africa.
While still in showroom condition, these chandeliers were no longer new, and because we make all our client pieces to order, we sold these samples off at reduced prices to make way for our next wave of inspiration. Watch this space for upcoming collections and new editions!
