willowlamp takes on New York and Dubai this November as our iconic chandeliers travel to two renowned international design festivals. The first stop on this exciting journey will see the Southern Flame, our first wall-mounted chandelier, on display in New York as part of Southern Guild’s exhibition at The Salon Art + Design from 8 to 12 November 2018.
The New York fair features 56 of the world’s most influential galleries in art, architecture and design, and serves as a valuable platform for South African design abroad. For its first appearance at The Salon Art + Design, Southern Guild has selected work by 21 established and emerging local designers across disciplines – from furniture and lighting to ceramics and sculpture. willowlamp will feature as part of a lineup of internationally recognised designers including Gregor Jenkin, Porky Hefer, Dokter and Misses, and Andile Dyalvane, as well as rising talents such as Madoda Fani, Chuma Maweni, Jesse Ede and Zizipho Poswa. Southern Guild is the leading platform for collectible design on the African continent and we are honoured to have the Southern Flame exhibited alongside other unique, limited-edition pieces that demonstrate the incredible craftsmanship and rich narratives of South African design.
willowlamp Founder and Creative Director, Adam Hoets then heads to the Middle East to take part in Downtown Design, the region’s leading design fair, which runs from 13 to 16 November as part of Dubai Design Week. willowlamp, in collaboration with creators of design-forward architectural planters Indigenus, will exhibit a selection of its classic pieces and current 2018 collection at their joint stand at the show.
Downtown Design is the only platform in the Middle East dedicated to original, high-quality design, and acts as an annual meeting point for both local and international members of the design community.
willowlamp and Indigenus will be situated at stand E46.
